日本各地の地方都市を巡り、その風景、そこで目についたものをコンパクトデジタルカメラを使って撮影しています。

例えば、電線・ネオンサイン・階段・自動販売機・トタン板・植木鉢・ピンクチラシ・廃墟・雑誌・電信柱・看板・ブロック塀・裏通り・広告・
地面・シャッター通り・ドラム缶・ゴミのような何か・古そうなもの・最近のもの・近くにあるもの・遠くにあるもの・よくわからないもの、
などいろいろ。
とにかく撮り続けて、それらのイメージが集積することによって、きっとなにかの姿が立ち現れてくるのではないか、そう考えています。

デジタルカメラは、現在でこそ当たり前の撮影機器ですが、2000年当時はまだ新し物好きがおもちゃの延長で使うような存在でした。

その頃フィルムカメラでの撮影に行き詰まった気がしていた僕は、「ほんの気分転換」くらいの軽い気持ちでデジタルカメラを購入し、
そこらじゅうを撮り始めたのです。
すると、いままでどうしてもできなかった、何も考えずに撮りたいと思ったものを撮る、ということが抵抗なくできるようになり、
またその画像の独特のノイズ感や平面的でペラペラな感じが、ずっと洞窟を掘り進んできた鶴嘴の先が、宝物らしき何かにカツンと音をたてて
触れたような、そんな気がしたのです。

それからは、まずは近郊の街から撮影を始め、その後興味は日本各地の地方都市へと向かうようになりました。
駅前にはコンビニエンスストア、携帯電話ショップ、ファストフード店、ピカピカのインクジェット出力された看板が立ち並び、
再開発されたであろう一角はコインパーキング。
そんな通りを抜けて、路地の角を曲がったとき、「撮りたいと思える何か」が目の前にドォーンと存在している、
その瞬間の緊張感と興奮はどんなに撮影を続けていても尽きることの無い感覚です。

I travel around regional cities in Japan, and the scenery and the things that I got there are photographed using compact digital cameras.
For example, electric wire,neon sign,stairway,vending machine,tans board,flowerpot,pink leaflet,ruins,magazine,telegraph pillar,signboard,block fence,back street,advertisement,shutter street, drum can, garbage, something like old, something old, recent, something nearby, something far away, something I do not know well,

I first started shooting from nearby towns, and after that my interests came towards local cities in various parts of Japan.
In front of the station there are convenience stores, mobile phone shops, fast food shops, shiny inkjet output signs line up,One corner that would have been redeveloped is coin parking.
When going through such a street and turning around the corner of the alley, there is Don with “something I want to take” in front of you,
The sense of tension and excitement at that moment is a sense that will not run out no matter how much you keep shooting.
